Suburb of Box Hill

Whenever I visit Box Hill, I forget that I am in Australia, as this suburb is largely populated by Asians. I love the shopping and food there.

Box Hill is 14 km / 8.7 miles east of the Melbourne CBD. It’s easy to get to by public transport from the CBD. Take tram no. 109 and get off at the last stop. But be prepared for a long ride because there are many stops in between.

When we got off the tram, we saw this wonderful shiny sculpture. And I thought of Weekend Reflections (Click on the link for more reflection photos).

The following photos have no reflections, but here is another sculpture in the shopping area.

Box Hill Taiwanese noodle © Evelyn Howard 2010I love shopping at the Asian grocery stores. It’s a trip down memory lane for me. Here, I am able to buy ingredients that my mom cooks with in Malaysia. We also visited our favourite Taiwanese noodle shop for a yummy bowl of beef noodle (left).

On the way back to the tram stop, I noticed 2 interesting looking buildings, shown in the next 2 photos.
