I took these photos on a walk from Brighton to Sandringham (ending at the marina in one of my previous post) last week.

At the Sandringham marina (Australia)

Sandringham is a suburb not far from the Melbourne CBD. After breakfast, we had a lovely walk along the beach, then went into the marina to have a look.

Warm wishes from downunder

Hope you had a lovely day on Christmas. Our family Christmas get-together was on on Christmas eve this year. Here’s me with Buddy the dog, wishing you happy holidays from down under :)

Christmas day was spent with friends – a family with 3 kids. A lovely day, but LOL, it always reminds me how happy we are to be a family of 2 (no offence intended to anyone!).

Cloudy over South Wharf (Melbourne, Australia)

The South Wharf area is quite new, and is situated by the Yarra River. Construction work is still ongoing.

A photo of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre taken from across the road.

The Polly Woodside dates back to 1885, and is in the heritage register. It was built in Belfast and has sailed around the world many times (click on the link for more info).

I looked through the glass on the floor, but no steps… Maybe they were removed, and but the old sign remains.

Thinking of Christmas

I took the sunset photo a few weeks ago, on a very nice afternoon… I hope that the weather will stay nice and warm for Christmas (no snow over here).

I’ve busy and having fun with Christmas presents this year. This is one that I’ve made. This little A6 sized book can be hung anywhere. Its pages are perforated near the spine, enabling the user to tear the page/list to go shopping. I have a couple more to finish up before Christmas…

… so that disasters – plane crashes, tsunamis, floods etc. – can be undone.

I’d even undo the smaller disasters, like spilling coffee on my keyboard…

Cloudy day in Melbourne, Australia

Yarra Promenade stretches for about 2 blocks along the Yarra River. It is a popular place for locals and tourists. The Crown Entertainment Complex– which houses a casino, cinema, some retails outlets and a number of upmarket restaurants – is located here.

These photos were taken last week, while the sun was taking a day off. I hope to show some photos of this place when it’s sunny and lovely soon :).

The Melbourne CBD – where the buildings are –  is a short walk  from here.

Toy Run (3rd and final part)

 Toy Run is an event when motorcyclists get together to donate toys to underprivileged children. In Melbourne, the annual Toy Run was held last Sunday (13 December 09).

I don’t know anything about bikes, but this old bike has been restored and is really interesting – it’s got pedals!

Blue skies in St Kilda

St Kilda is on the Melbourne tourist map, as an interesting bay side suburb. One of the most popular places in the suburb is Acland Street.  I was there a few days ago, and here are some pictures.

 

 
Interesting sculptures on top of hair/beauty salons. These two shops are on opposite sides of the street – funny how different the colour of the sky is…

 
Acland Street is famous for its cake shops. Great places to go for coffee and cakes, relax and watch the world go  by.

Colourful graffiti… these photos were taken in a laneway just off Acland Street.
